Deliverance Temple International
This is the first site I have been hired to take on. I was hired to revamp a church's website that looked like it was from the 90's. Conferring with my client, we deemed WordPress a viable solution to what he was looking for.
It was my job to create an appealing layout that would appropriately house the many features and widgets that would need to be included. This involved a lot of hacking with WordPress and even editing some of the inner workings of permissions to try to get it the way he wanted it. Many complications arose, such as slow loading times, JavaScript errors, and PHP timeouts. All of these, along with other small issues here and there, I took care of, and he is now a satisfied customer.
You can check it out for yourself here.
myUMBC
I worked in UMBC's DoIT (formerly OIT) under Collier Jones from May 2007 to May 2010, mainly creating, maintaining, and generally working on the campus portal, myUMBC. I've also did other tasks such as creating various online forms for different departments and updating the Undergraduate Progress Report tool. I helped with the new version of myUMBC, launched in Fall 2010.
The latest version can be viewed here.
Vesuvius
I was tasked to create a product for my Software Development class. My team and I (Team Pompeii) chose to use PHP and MySQL to create our room booking software (Vesuvius). It was a very simple application, and the main goal of the class was to experience the software development life cycle, including Requirements, Design, Implementation, Testing, and Delivery.
Having the greatest knowledge in creating web based applications on the team, I did most of the coding, and I was also responsible for the design of the site. You can try it out yourself here while it lasts.
Laurel Poster
Laurel Logo
This also was accompanied by a design manual, with instructions on how to use and how not to use the logo.

Color Calendar
This is the color version of my ultimate terms calendar. This time we had to use color and images, but couldn't just rely on the old format with pictures thrown in. I rethought the whole calendar layout, orienting it vertically, dropping in a background, and restructuring the entire grid for the page.
Intensity Annual Report [Final]
I made a mistake in my previous upload of the annual report cover for Intensity Ultimate Apparel. The file I uploaded was the original version, which did stick out from the rest a lot. I decided to alter it to be more in line for the final, which is shown here.
B&W Calendar
The final set of projects in Graphic Design IV was to produce two calendars. One had to be black and white and use only typography (no images). I took on making a calendar of ultimate terms, using expressive typography to illustrate each word, and also defining each phrase on the page.
Choking Victim Poster
Another project from Graphic Design IV was a task to redesign the classic choking poster. We took the text right from the old one, and created a style (once again conforming to a pretty tight grid) of our own. We were required to illustrate it ourselves, and I went with a really simplified and clean approach.
B&O Poster Series
For the second part of the B&O Railroad project in Graphic Design IV, we created a three-part poster series. We had to create three words or phrases that represented the museum, and then use one for each of the posters. For both parts of this project, we were supposed to be sticking to a strict grid, but here I've gotten away with a very loose use of it.
B&O Accordion Book
For the first project in Graphic Design IV, we were required to visit the B&O Railroad Museum. We were tasked to take photographs, and then create six-page 9x9" accordion book that somehow represented the museum. I went for a more abstract approach with mine, but there might be a story in there somewhere.
Quotes
In Graphic Design III, most of our projects were crafted by hand using pencil and paper, or were just merely exercises in understanding nuances in typography. However, one of our projects involved illustrating quotes (using only typography of course). I've taken some lyrics from various Radiohead songs to do mine.
Intensity Sell Sheet
After a few other projects in Graphic Design II, we used InDesign to create sell sheets for our company. Here, I'm advertising a testimonial from UMBC's team for Intensity Ultimate Apparel in a two-sided sell sheet.
Intensity Annual Report
Another project for Graphic Design II was to create an annual report cover, this time in Photoshop instead of Illustrator, which was used for the first few projects. I tried many variations, but I ended up liking this abstract cover the most. It is probably the one piece that doesn't mesh quite as well with the rest.
Intensity Business Card
Our second project in Graphic Design II was to create a business card for our company. I used the pink disc form that would become almost a "trademark" along with the logo in this two-sided business card.
Intensity Logo
In Graphic Design II, we were tasked with coming up with a company we would create a corporate identity for. I chose to create an ultimate apparel company called Intensity Ultimate Apparel. I used UMBC's team colors (black and pink), and went to town. This logo contains a vectorized silhouette of me and some others going up for a disc.
Toys on Parade
The final project for my Graphic Design I class was an 18x24" poster for one of a set of exhibits we got to choose from. I chose Toys on Parade for mine. We were provided with the text to be put on the poster, and were limited to the use of just a few typefaces. We then set out to create our poster design, and this is my final product.
Virtual Wah
This is the iPhone app I created for my special topics Computer Science class. We had a few smaller weekly projects, but this was the final project. We had a few requirements, but had free reign to choose what kind of app we wanted to make. I chose to recreate the game of Wah.
Flash Puppet - Sadie
Last of three animated puppets created for The Crystal Egg by the IRC fellows. I programmed this character's eye to follow mouse movement, but the body stays in place. It also has various actions that it performs such as a blink and hiss, which are triggered by various keys. All of the animations were created through Cinema4D by a classmate.
Flash Puppet - Jill
Second of three animated puppets created for The Crystal Egg by the IRC fellows. I programmed this character to respond to mouse movement, with a ripple effect that follows. It also has various actions that it performs such as a cough and shake, which are triggered by various keys. All of the animations were created through Maya by a classmate.
Flash Puppet - Ike
One of three animated puppets created for The Crystal Egg by the IRC fellows. I programmed this character to respond to keyboard movement, animating on turn. It also has various actions that it performs such as a roar and a hide, which are triggered by various keys. All of the animations were created through Maya by a classmate.
Final Project: Voiceover
The fourth of four projects done for my Visual Concepts IV class. It was intended to show all the skills we had learned through the semester including audio and video capturing and editing. The voiceover was supposed to be a letter written to someone, but it was very open-ended.
Note: The first of four was a slide projection, and the second of four I was unable to upload to YouTube.
Event Score: The Floor Is Lava
The third of four projects for my Visual Concepts IV class. The class worked collaboratively to film and perform the event scores written by individuals in the class. This project was based on some Fluxus work.
Note: The first of four was a slide projection, and the second of four I was unable to upload to YouTube.
